Roman. Lead Weight in the Form of a Scallop Shell
Description
A cast lead weight in the form of a scallop shell, the exterior rendered with radiating ribs. Covered with pale mineral encrustation and deposits. Comparable examples have been recorded from Roman sites, including the vicus at Vagnari in southern Italy. 72.51 g, 32 mm.
